The replica was developed in cooperation between CYMA and CyberGun under official Colt license, offering realistic markings and faithful reproduction of the M16A2 / M723 model, a compact carbine from the 1980s used by special forces and exported to Middle Eastern countries. It belongs to the Lightning Series, which, thanks to the use of a lightweight aluminum bolt carrier and an optimized return system, ensures a higher rate of fire and improved responsiveness. The heart of the replica is the CYMA CGS system, developed with T8 and based on the TM MWS platform, ensuring realistic blowback and wide compatibility with tuning parts.

Short lesson about the M16 / CAR-15 platform

Rifles from the M16 family are among the most recognizable firearms in modern history. They are derived from the ArmaLite AR-15 platform, which was adopted by the United States military as the standard service rifle in 5.56×45 mm caliber. Early versions saw extensive use during the Vietnam War, where their low weight and high rate of fire were highly valued.

The development of the platform led to the M16A1 and later the M16A2, introducing improvements in durability, ergonomics, and fire control. Based on these developments, shorter variants were created, commonly referred to as CAR-15.

One such model is the Colt M723, a carbine developed in the 1980s and primarily used by US special forces. It was used by Delta Force operators and other Special Operations units during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

These types of carbines played an important role in special operations, where compact size and mobility were crucial. The M723 and similar models were used, among others, during operations in Somalia in the early 1990s (the “Black Hawk Down" period), where their advantages in urban combat were clearly demonstrated.

Experience gained from these platforms directly contributed to the development and later adoption of the M4 as the standard carbine of the US Army.

Construction and materials

The replica is built with a strong focus on detail and durability. The receiver (upper and lower) is made
of metal and features realistic “M16A2 COLT" markings. The classic carry handle incorporates an adjustable rear sight, preserving the retro design.

The rifle is equipped with a metal outer barrel corresponding to a 14.5'' length, finished with a steel muzzle device. The front section features a CAR-15 style polymer handguard with metal components. Ergonomics are completed with a classic pistol grip and a stock mounted on a metal two-position buffer tube.

number of steel components are used to increase durability, including the bolt catch, iron sights, sling mounts, dust cover, and parts of the trigger assembly. The replica is powered by a 30-round gas magazine.

Full Colt Industries License

The replica is manufactured under Colt Industries license, featuring authentic markings and faithfully reproduced details of the original firearm. The external construction is made of high-quality aluminum, while key mechanical components are made of steel, increasing durability and resistance to heavy use.

Reliable CYMA CGS internal system

At the heart of the replica is the modern CYMA CGS gas system, developed in cooperation with T8, based on the popular MWS platform, known for its high realism of operation and wide availability of upgrade parts. The design features an adjustable trigger mechanism, allowing precise tuning of the replica's characteristics to the shooter's preferences. To increase durability and resistance to wear, numerous steel components have been used, including the complete trigger group, hammer, bolt catch, and magazine release.

In the Lightning Series version, an aluminum bolt carrier is used, reducing the mass of moving parts, which translates into better responsiveness, a shorter operating cycle, and a higher rate of fire. The system is complemented by a polymer buffer that stabilizes blowback operation and improves overall smoothness. This configuration provides realistic recoil, dynamic bolt movement, and high user comfort both in semi-automatic and full-auto fire.
